Gamers get to have all the fun! Sore about losing to Amazon, Google has launched its own live streaming gaming service called YouTube Gaming in a bid to rival Amazon’s Twitch.
Twitch, a video network for gaming and gamers, was caught in a tug of war between Amazon and Google but the latter lost the deal for $970 million and since then Google has concentrated on building a rival service to outshine its competitor and now YouTube Gaming has just gone live.
Talking about their new service, said Frank Petterson, YouTube engineering manager said, “YouTube gaming brings you closer to the games, gamers, and culture that matter to you. Together, we all make gaming better. Our peers make us better gamers, and games are made better by the communities that surround them.”
The new gaming service will offer more than 25,000 games to start with, each with its own page on the site filled with videos and live streams of thousands of game-related titles and channels all on one platform. Users can increase their collections by adding games, setting quick access games, subscribing to preferred channels and receiving game-based recommendations and new game suggestions. Users can also start streaming from a personal URL by going to the page called Stream.
The content is streamed via HTML5 technology which allows users to use a “DVR Mode,” for buffering four hours of a stream for later viewing. YouTube Gaming English language version is available wherever YouTube can be accessed while the iOS and Android apps have currently been released only in the US and UK will a gradual worldwide roll out.
